KATARZYNA BADACH *1975 in Gdansk (Poland) studied painting at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, where she was a master’s student of Prof. Helmut Dorner from 1999 to 2001. In 2003, she completed a postgraduate course at the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, Cuba. Badach’s artistic interest lies in spaces of possibility, both formally on paper and canvas as well as concerning the motifs. In her paintings, she captures places where diversity finds a space and unpredictable interactions can occur. In particular, her works focus on traces of human actions in peripheral areas, niches, and wastelands of Berlin and Havana. These cities form the center of her life and work.
